Using the Social History Annotation Corpus (SHAC), Track 2: Extracting Social Determinants of Health (SDOH) explores the extraction of SDOH from clinical notes, including substance use (alcohol, drug, tobacco), employment, and living status information.

All participating teams are required to sign the n2c2 Rules of Conduct and the MIMIC DUA. Those who participate in Subtasks B and C (Tracks 2B and 2C) must also sign the UW DUA.

In the Extraction Subtask (Track 2A), participants will be provided a MIMIC-III training set (Dmimic/train), and extraction performance will be evaluated on a MIMIC-III test set (Dmimic/test-a).

The Generalizability Subtask (Track 2B) will explore the generalizability of the extraction frameworks from one institution to another. Participants will be provided the same MIMIC-III training set as Subtask A (Dmimic/train), and extraction performance will be evaluated on a University of Washington (UW) test set (Duw/test-b).

The Learning Transfer Subtask (Track 2C) will explore learning transfer from one institution to another. Participants will be provided the same MIMIC-III training set (Dmimic/train), as well as a UW training set (Duw/train). Extraction performance will be evaluated on a new UW test set (Duw/test-c).
